Well Abandonment (P&A) RFQ — Cement Plugs, Coiled-Tubing Path, and Pressure-Control Fields

Buyers search well abandonment, plugging and well abandonment, or P&A coiled tubing when a plugging-and-abandonment (P&A) program must become a quote — and the request often collapses to one vague line: “abandonment package.” That hides the decisions that drive fit: which plug duties (primary, intermediate, surface) the program names, how cleanout and perforate/cut open access, which pressure-control path covers coiled-tubing work, and how cement class/slurry plus verification close the RFQ.

This page is not a rewrite of soft encyclopedia posts. Use cost-effective well abandonment remediation, plugging and well abandonment coiled tubing, coiled tubing complete guide, and packers and perforating only as process primers. It is also not a rewrite of related pack #25 (coiled-tubing buyer guide), which owns CT BOP RFQ alone, or #8 (types of cement oil and gas buyer guide), which owns cement class/slurry RFQ alone. This page turns program-level well abandonment / P&A — duty stack → equipment/materials path → checklist → quote — into fields that feed live CNPS pages, then request a quote.

Start with duty, not with a label

A P&A package is a sequence of duties. Name what each step must achieve before you ask for hardware or slurry:

Duty Question the RFQ must answer
Primary / intermediate / surface plugs Which plug intervals, lengths, and isolation objectives does the program name?
Cleanout What debris, scale, or fill must be cleared so plugs can be placed?
Perforate / cut for access Which intervals need perforating or cutting so slurry reaches the target annulus or formation?
Pressure control during CT Which working pressure, bore, ram set, and control path cover live-well CT work?
Verification / logging How will plug placement and isolation be confirmed (logging / program acceptance)?
Remedial cementing Is this plug/squeeze repair, abandonment plug placement, or both — with which slurry and interfaces?

Soft CT-for-P&A education frames a buyer-question sequence: cleanout → perforate/cut → cement plug placement (primary / intermediate / surface) → logging / verification. Use that only as RFQ framing — do not treat it as a CNPS fleet or capability claim, and do not invent CTU counts or industry fleet percentages.

Equipment / materials path — map to published CNPS pages

Map the P&A stack only to live pages. Prefer body/table specs over sidebar widgets if they conflict.

**Remedial cementing / plug placement — cementing** — pumping-program RFQ framing: slurry, rates, volumes, pressures, interfaces, standards, testing, delivery. Primary vs remedial FAQ language separates annular sheath work from plug/squeeze/repair. For Class G/H vs OPC and primary-vs-remedial cement fields, cross-link the types of cement oil and gas buyer guide — do not rewrite it here.

**CT pressure control — API 16A Coiled Tubing BOP** — conformity to API 16A; anti-H2S per NACE MR 0175 as published. Intro frames annular BOP construction (body / header / rubber core / piston); KEY FEATURE bullets use single-ram BOP wording for seal / suspend / side-outlet / under-pressure — quote carefully as published; do not invent an annular-vs-ram resolution. Published models 2FZ18-21 / 2FZ18-35: WP 3000 / 5000 psi; nominal diameter 7 1/16 / 7 3/8 in; strength test 6000 / 7500 psi; oil cylinder 1200–1500 psi; metal temp −29~121 °C, nonmetal −18~121 °C; rams 2 3/8″ · 2 7/8″ · 3 1/2″ · 4 1/2″ + blind; table weights 1717 / 1780 lb; piston stroke 100 mm. Sidebar Weight 6617 kg — cite table lb separately; do not invent reconciliation. Full CT BOP RFQ depth belongs to pack #25; here the BOP is one node in the P&A stack.

**CT vs other PCE — wellhead pressure control RFQ matrix** — CT BOP row distinct from drilling / workover BOP. RFQ dims: WP, bore, API family, end connection, fluid/temp, control, docs, qty / spares / destination / date.

**Access via perforating carriers — API 5CT perforating gun pipes** — OD tol ≤±0.5%, WT ≤±0.8%, tortuosity ≤1 mm/m; swelling ≤5 mm, burr ≤5 mm; QCBQB 232-2013 as published; conventional + horizontal gun carriers. Confirm OD / WT / grade / phasing — do not invent gun charge sizes. Related #26 / #15 packs are sister intent; prefer this product page when buyer-guide URLs are unpublished.

Scope stack — plugs, access, pressure control, cement, verification

  1. Plug plan — primary / intermediate / surface intervals; lengths and isolation objectives.
  2. Access path — cleanout; perforate/cut intervals; carrier OD/WT/grade/phasing if guns are in scope.
  3. Pressure control — CT BOP WP/bore/ram set/control (2FZ18-21 or 2FZ18-35); keep CT BOP distinct from drilling BOP on the RFQ matrix.
  4. Cement materials — Class G/H (or OPC only if the program allows); slurry density, volumes, rates, pressures; primary vs remedial via cementing and the types of cement buyer guide.
  5. Verification — logging / acceptance the program names; documents and testing as published RFQ language requires.
  6. Interfaces and commercial — wellhead / CT / cementing interfaces; quantity, spares, destination, need-by date.

No invented SKUs, prices, plants, case studies, CT fleet stats, ICoTA percentages, gun charge sizes, or certificate seals beyond published page language.

Well abandonment RFQ checklist

Well abandonment RFQ checklist — duty, plug plan, access, pressure control, cement, verification
  1. Duty — full P&A program, remedial plug/squeeze only, CT-assisted abandonment, or combined stack.
  2. Plug plan — primary / intermediate / surface plugs; interval depths, lengths, isolation objective.
  3. Access path — cleanout; perforate/cut intervals; carrier OD/WT/grade/phasing if applicable (API 5CT perforating gun pipes).
  4. Pressure control — CT BOP path (2FZ18-21 / 2FZ18-35); WP, bore, ram set, control; align with the wellhead pressure control RFQ matrix.
  5. Cement class / slurry — API class, density window, volumes, rates, pressures; primary vs remedial (cementing · types of cement buyer guide).
  6. Verification — logging / acceptance method; testing and standards language as the program requires.
  7. Interfaces — CT / wellhead / cementing mating notes; fluid and temperature against published classes.
  8. Documents — API / NACE framing as published; project document list (cite page language only — no invented cert numbers).
  9. Qty / destination / date — quantities, spares, ship-to, need-by.
  10. Related scope — call out CT BOP-only (#25) or cement-class-only (#8) line items separately so quotes do not merge SERP intents.

Send one brief

A useful well abandonment request fits on one page: duty, plug plan, access path, pressure control, cement class/slurry, verification, interfaces, documents, commercial fields, and related-scope flags. Missing fields get flagged in review.

Ready to quote? Start from cementing, API 16A Coiled Tubing BOP, the wellhead pressure control RFQ matrix, and API 5CT perforating gun pipes, align cement class fields with the types of cement oil and gas buyer guide, then send the brief through request a quote.
